Reunion:

TANK TRANSPORTER BRANCH REUNIONThis years Reunion saw a return to a higher attendance with 316 members and a lot of new faces for the first time. The Adelphi looked after us again with it's usual style and continuous goodwill especially on the bar prices which were a big hit at £1.50 a pint. I must apologise for the absence of the Military Band which had to pull out at the last minute due to yet more of the Governments cost cutting!! This has now been reversed and so all should be well for next year. The Casino was a big hit again and along with the Raffle helped to raise much needed funds for BLESMA. Thank you to all who contributed by donating prizes and by purchasing tickets. The total raised this year is the largest ammount we have ever achieved at £1167.00, but we don't want to stop there! so look out for anything that could be donated as a Raffle Prize and start trying to raise some bumper prizes for 2010. A big part of this increase is due to the generosity of people like Lee Williamson who donated £200.00 enabling the purchase of the 26" LCD Television as a star prize, and Mally Machin who has persuaded his boss David Austin, of the famous rose variety, to contribute £100.00 of vouchers and a signed copy of his book for the last 5 years or more. Then there is Tanky Allen and his son who have organised T- Shirts, Sweatshirts and prints as well as Chas Chapman who kindly donated all the proceeds of sales of his Bird boxes, so you see anything you can bring along is most welcome and I thank you all for your continued support. Next year's dates are booked for 5th - 8th November 2010 and as a generous sign of goodwill, and after threatening to leave Tam Ritchie and Gerry Crampton at the Hotel until next year, the General Manager has agreed to keep the prices the same as for the last 2 years at £129.00 for three nights, £108.00 for two nights and £80.00 for one night per person. Dinner on the Saturday only will stay at £21.00 per person. I will put out my usual letter in May 2010 with all the booking references and details.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible next year and wish you and all your families a very good Xmas and safe and healthy New YearRegards Blackie
